What does a consultation involve and why do I need one?

 All of our new guests are invited for a free of charge consultation in the salon. Consultations allow us to introduce you to the Matthew Luke brand and your Ambassador, as well as perform a hair assessment and understand your hair goal. We also use this time to do our compulsory skin test for all clients that wish to use colour in the future.

Consultations usually last between 15-30 minutes and are added, free of charge, to all 1st visits to Matthew Luke Salons.

Why do I need a skin test?

At Matthew Luke Professional we follow the rules and regulations of the suppliers of our colour in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our clients.

Although the likelihood of a reaction occurring is rare, when a reaction of this kind does occur it can be serious and in some cases even cause hospitalisation.

Even those who have had their hair coloured before may have a different reaction to the different ingredients some brands use, and for this reason those who have not had any colouring with us for 6 months will also require a skin test.

Why do you take a deposit for some appointments?

We take a deposit for appointments that are 3 hours and over. We do this to secure your appointment and the desired time with our Ambassadors. The deposit amount is 25% of the total amount and will deducted from your bill at the checkout.

Cancellation policy?

We know not everything goes as planned which is why you have the right to cancel your appointment.

  • Cancel more than 48 hours prior to your appointment = Deposit refunded
  • Cancel less than 48 hours prior to your appointment= Deposit not refunded
    (however the money will be added to your Matthew Luke account ready for when you rebook)

Why do you charge by time?

Our expert ambassadors have THREE main aims for your hair:

  • To maintain your highest level of condition 100% of the time.
  • Make your hair colour look like it NEVER needs doing.
  • To take you in and out of each fashion season easily.

Your hair is unique and therefore for us to achieve these two aims we have to ensure your time spent in the salon is tailored to you and your hair needs, there are NO ‘one size fits all’ services that will give you the hair you want.

Charging by time gives our Ambassadors freedom to truly give you the look you want, all for one set price. You will always know the maximum cost before you arrive for your appointment; this means you don’t have to worry about nasty unexpected charges.

What brands do you use?

We strictly use Redken colour as it allows our Ambassador to tailor colour formulas to give our guests exactly the colour they want. Delivering hair that not only has a lasting, shiny colour but also keeps hair healthy during the process.

The haircare and styling brands we use include Redken, Pureology, Kerastase, Shu Uemura and Mizani.
